What Am I Going to Do With All of These T-Shirts?!

I’m guilty of hoarding. I’d rather call it collecting, but if I’m being real with myself, it’s hoarding. There are piles of things in boxes that I don’t look at more than a few times a year and it’s silly. I’m trying my best to let go of those tendencies (realistically, of course, I can’t lose all of what makes me me. I collected/hoarded bookmarks and pencils when I was a kid–it’s part of me…and that’s a tangent) and that means figuring out what to do with running gear that I can’t bring myself to part with. In my “what the hell am I doing with all of these t-shirts” research, I’ve found some cool ideas for old race shirts. Hopefully I’ll put one of these ideas to good use. 4th Annual Vet Day 5K and Mutt Strut

Saturday, November 11, 2017
9:00am, 25°F, Veterans Memorial Park

We saw November coming after last month got a little surprising, so we looked at the race calendar and had about 3 options that worked with our upcoming holiday schedules. All three of the races were a little far from us, so that didn’t help narrow things down, but the causes definitely did. We landed on veterans and puppies because…well, do you know us? We didn’t know much about the race other than the cause and were happy to take part in it.

16th Annual Halloween Run for Justice

Saturday, October 28, 2017
9:00am, ~38 and rainy, Jacobs Pavilion at Nautica

This race snuck up on us. Suddenly October was almost halfway over and we needed to choose a race to squeeze in so we didn’t break our streak (4 years is coming up!). We settled on the Run for Justice because of the location (though the cause is great too!); how could we pass up the change of scenery?! Continue reading 16th Annual Halloween Run for Justice

5th Annual Labor of Love Run 4 Our Lady of The Wayside

Sunday, September 17, 2017
8:30am, 68°F, Rocky River High School

This was our second year running this race. It’s a nice change from the usual 5K — you don’t often see 4 mile races and the start is on a high school track. Not to mention, the cause is a great one and the energy is always very positive. Continue reading 5th Annual Labor of Love Run 4 Our Lady of The Wayside

Working For It

I was recently talking to a friend about how one of her friends runs long distances even when he’s not in training and runs marathons on whims. I immediately blurted out “I wish I could do that, but I’m one of those runners that has to work to be a runner.” At first, this made me feel a little uncomfortable, but the more I think about it, the more it’s helped me to understand how and why I run. 27th Annual A Most Excellent Race

Sunday, June 25, 2017
~68°F, 9am, Beaumont School

For the first race coming off of the half, both of us were feeling a bit… nervous about this race in the coming weeks. Not only was it a 10K, but the heat had been excruciating, and our training was perhaps a little lackluster. But thanks to the beautiful weather that morning, and a new, very pleasant course, the race turned out to be as fun as it always is! Continue reading 27th Annual A Most Excellent Race

40th Annual Rite Aid Cleveland Marathon

Sunday, May 21, 2017
~60°F, 7am, Downtown Cleveland

This race was going to be one for the books from the minute we registered. We knew that after the craziness of last year, no matter what happened the 40th Cleveland Marathon would be a different race. Continue reading 40th Annual Rite Aid Cleveland Marathon
