9:00am, 25°F, Veterans Memorial Park
We saw November coming after last month got a little surprising, so we looked at the race calendar and had about 3 options that worked with our upcoming holiday schedules. All three of the races were a little far from us, so that didn’t help narrow things down, but the causes definitely did. We landed on veterans and puppies because…well, do you know us? We didn’t know much about the race other than the cause and were happy to take part in it.

9:00am, ~38 and rainy, Jacobs Pavilion at Nautica
This race snuck up on us. Suddenly October was almost halfway over and we needed to choose a race to squeeze in so we didn’t break our streak (4 years is coming up!). We settled on the Run for Justice because of the location (though the cause is great too!); how could we pass up the change of scenery?! Continue reading 16th Annual Halloween Run for Justice

9:00am, ~50°F, Lake View Cemetery
For the first time in a LONG time, I ran a 5K by myself over the weekend. R was out of town for a whole month and I had already set my sights on running the Lake View Cemetery 5K, so I ran on my own. We’re used to running longer races (the Hermes 10 miler in April and fall half marathons for me) on our own, so this was a bit of a change. 76°F, 6:30pm, Edgewater Park
We did it again. Our social lives took over August and we could only manage to do a Wednesday evening race…which is actually awesome because it switches things up a bit and the timing of the Nike Summer Series offerings couldn’t be better! Continue reading Nike Summer Race Series 2017

74°F, 8:30am, Cleveland Metroparks Zoo
We’ve run at the zoo before, so we knew what to expect at the 11th Annual Wigs for Kids 5K Day at the Zoo. That didn’t make the anticipation of the big hill any better, especially with the struggle of the heat this summer. Luckily, it was a VERY rainy morning, with the rain only picking up as we ran and becoming torrential right after we finished. This helped keep the sweat at bay and the temperature refreshing instead of heavy and uncomfortable. Continue reading 11th Annual Wigs for Kids 5K Day at the Zoo

~50°F, 9am, Avon High School
As usual, we were all excited to run the race that we’ve affectionately nicknamed “the Puppy Run”. Avon’s a bit of a trek for us, so we got an early start and arrived with time to spare (even after getting R registered because, you guessed it: he didn’t pre-register). Continue reading 6th Annual Love-A-Stray Fur Fun 5K
The weather is starting to change and racing season is kicking into gear! Late winter and early spring is one of my favorite times to run races because the races line up with my training for the Cleveland Half Marathon in May. Here are some of my top races at the start of the year.
