Let’s take a moment to acknowledge that the “new year, new me” trend is hilarious and SO MANY good memes have come of it.
OK, to the point. Obviously, I don’t think I’ll be a new me in August. I like me!
But I do have some goals and I think the beginning of the month is a good time to take inventory and put my thoughts out there.
I’ve been having a hard time running lately. Whether it’s the humidity and my breathing, knee pain, or just motivation, this summer has been a struggle. I’ve found that I’m really feeling the guilt of not getting my workouts in more than normal lately. This is all despite trying to revamp my schedule and try new things to keep my interest piqued. So, with August beginning and my impending birthday, I’ve decided that now is a good time to renew my motivation and refresh my lifestyle.
No, I’m not changing anything major, just making small changes to better myself (this happens to come during a time of very big change for me, which may also make these little changes easier). I plan on cutting back on the things that aren’t good for me (the “bads” like certain food and drink – admittedly, I’m a bit of a Hot Cheeto and root beer addict) and working on finding a workout routine that works for me. Keeping my aversion to running in the heat in mind and my knee pain at the forefront of my physical concerns, I’m going to start working on my fitness.
When I find a schedule and routine that works well for me and helps me get the results I’d like to see, maybe I’ll share it here.
