Keeping On

It’s been almost two weeks since I decided to push hard after the half.

And I’m happy to say, I think I’ve been killing it. tumblr_mjt42fQ8qL1qzukcpo3_400.gif

Usually the biggest issue is just getting myself out there. So while I have given myself a few rest days, I’ve managed to get some miles in at least 5 days each week.

I’m also trying to improve the quality of my runs. So far, I’ve been alternating between very short (1-2 miles) runs with fast intervals, and longer runs at a more moderate pace, but still try to push past my usual shuffle.

Two more additions to my regimen – returning to regular, full body weight training three times a week, and a daily yoga session, care of Yoga With Adriene (9 days in at the time of writing – haven’t missed one yet!).

And of course, what’s a workout plan without a healthy diet as well? A few weeks ago, my gym gave me a free consult with a personal trainer to discuss goals and training. She told me that achieving my goals would be 75% healthy diet, 25% exercise – literally three times more important! So, I’m keeping calories down, limiting takeout, and sticking with mostly plants and whole foods. I may have been more than a little inspired by this Buzzfeed post.

Whew. This is a lot. And I hope I keep it up. But who knows what will happen! The important thing is to adapt and keep making progress, even if things start to slip. I’ve started to take that mentality to heart, and I hope you all do too!
