~50°F, 9am, Avon High School
As usual, we were all excited to run the race that we’ve affectionately nicknamed “the Puppy Run”. Avon’s a bit of a trek for us, so we got an early start and arrived with time to spare (even after getting R registered because, you guessed it: he didn’t pre-register).
By the time the race started, we were reduced to just making incoherent sounds over each new dog we saw. Once we got started, we were reminded of another reason this race is so fun. The route winds through some beautiful woods surrounding Avon High School. The only downside is that the path can get a bit crowded at points. But when you’re crowded by canines, it’s not so bad!
This race was a bit of a wake-up call for us. May is here and that means the Cleveland Half Marathon is a few weeks away. We both went home to examine our training schedules and figure out what we need to do to have a good race on May 21.
But before we got serious, we had a little brunch at Market Garden Brewery in the perfect weather. The sun was shining, the breeze was refreshing, and we got to dine with a view of the West Side Market produce stands. And looking up the race results after, K found out she placed in her age group! Not too bad, considering some of the lightning fast women we saw that day!
We love the Love-A-Stray 5K (and we love stray animals…adopt them!)!
