We ran the Run Santa Run 5K this past weekend! This race gave us some trouble initially. First, there was the question of what race we were going to run. December gets spotty; there aren’t many races to run and our schedules were filling up quickly due to the holidays. When we finally settled on Run Santa Run, we started looking forward to the beer glasses (and beer to go in them) as well as the Christmas cheer that comes with a Santa-themed race…but then weather happened.
Friday and Saturday were somewhat stressful, wondering whether the race would be canceled or not. We weren’t seeing much snow in Cleveland Heights, but Mentor got hit pretty hard. Luckily, the race was on and we weren’t backed into a corner for our monthly race!
R was surprisingly ( 😉 ) up and ready to go despite staying up pretty late (cough::early::) Saturday night. The cool air probably helped, though it put a scowl on his face.
We met up with our frequent guest racer, Mark, and got ourselves decked out for the holiday-inspired run. With Christmas light necklaces and Santa shorts and hats, we’d say we looked pretty damn jolly.
The race itself was jolly and fun as well! Despite some struggles along the way, including a very congested start and some snowy paths, the three of us were able to chat and run strong through the whole route. We even managed to get a photo finish!
And of course, we celebrated with bloody marys and laughs at The Winking Lizard. And then we played with these silly pups!
