Munday Runday: Philly

FOLKS. I’m in love.

E and I went to Philadelphia over the weekend and I completely fell in love with the city. I could probably write a much longer post about all of the things I love about it, but this is a short and sweet Mun-Run. I’ll limit myself to explaining how much I enjoyed running on Sunday morning.

Even though we were staying out late and I was waking up exhausted and dehydrated, I knew I really wanted to get a run in during our short trip. Saturday, we had walked around and checked out the museum and the “Rocky steps”, so of course I was planning on returning and running the steps if I could drag myself out of bed on Sunday. When I woke up, I started thinking about how scared I was of tripping up the steps and dealing with the bodies of other tourists, so I researched some other options for a 3 mile jaunt. Google maps showed me a crazy walking route to the Liberty Bell, so I decided to do that despite an estimated 6 mile round trip (I wasn’t sure my body was up to that distance and it was already pushing 80 at 8am). I set out on the easiest route I knew of after all of our explorations and ended up with a nice 3.6 miler…
…AND I GOT TO SEE WASHINGTON SQUARE, INDEPENDENCE HALL, AND THE LIBERTY BELL. (AND THE CROWDS WEREN’T EVEN OUT OF BED YET.) AND IT WAS A BEAUTIFUL RUN.
