Spring is upon us and that means race season is starting! If you’re like us, you’ve probably been running through the winter and perhaps training for a distance or pace goal. We’ve selected 5 spring races in Cleveland, ranging from a 5K to the big 26.2. This is a great place to start if you’re new to running in Cleveland or if you’re looking for a new race to add to your schedule!
We’ve also added our “recommended rewards” to each race, but keep in mind that you need to drink TONS of water after a race, not just the fun cocktails we list below.

Run Like A God! The Hermes 10 miler has been a Cleveland distance staple for more than 10 years now and with good reason. This race begins in the beautiful Edgewater Park and is a great way to be a part of the Cleveland running community, as well as challenge yourself to a 10 mile race (those don’t pop up very often).
Like a Greek God, you conquered this feat and…well…you ran like a God, right? Deliver some protein to those muscles and snack on hummus paired with a delicious Greek brew (if you’re like us and enjoy a cold beer after a run) at the Greek Village Grille.

One of the more educational races on the calendar this spring, the 4 Miles 4 Water is a great way to learn about the global water crisis and run a fun 4 miles! 100% of registration fees go to Drink Local. Drink Tap., Inc. and there is an “All Things Water Festival,” featuring live music, interactive exhibits, and a special guest athlete.
As always, drink water, duh! Be mindful of how lucky you are to have access to quality drinking water while you explore the festival. Additionally, there is a beer garden associated with the festival that benefits the Cleveland Metroparks.
Saturday & Sunday, May 16 & 17, 2015
The Rite Aid Cleveland Marathon isn’t just a race – it’s an event-filled weekend! There will be a 5K event and kids’ run held on Saturday, and a 10K, half marathon, and full marathon held on Sunday. This is a great weekend to kick off the spring season, whether you’re interested in distance or simply a fun way to get out and enjoy the community.
You just ran a lot! That’s a big deal; you deserve a big reward! Opt for a banana and some chocolate milk at the finish line, followed by a huge glass (or two) of water and, if you’re so inclined, an even bigger beer! Try out Cleveland’s Hofbrauhaus nearby downtown!

Formerly the Morgana Run, the Pierogi Dash 5K Run and Fun Walk benefits the Slavic Village Development, an organization promoting and empowering Slavic Village and its culture. This run is a great option if you’re looking to explore the Slavic Village and learn a bit about this Cleveland culture hub.
You just dashed for pierogies, so why not go all the way and head to Sokolowski’s University Inn for a classic Cleveland combination: pierogi and beer!

Run 5 miles or participate in the 2 mile fun run/walk to benefit the Lacing up for a Lifetime of Achievement (LULA) mission. Girls With Sole is an exceptional foundation, promoting confidence, success, and active lifestyles to girls who are at-risk or have experienced abuse. This is a great, empowering cause to get behind and the events are certainly worth checking out.
Celebrate the strong women in your life and grab your running buddies, best girl friends, or little one after the race and indulge in some sweets at Sweet Melissa. Cupcakes and Shirley Temples highly recommended!
